Incorrect. These packages existed on the AUR, the ArchLinux
User-community Repository. They were not part of the any of the
officially distributed Arch repositories. So no; no user of Arch would
possibly make the mistake of thinking that ion packages in the AUR were
"the standard Ion3".

Arch provides a nice service to its user community by providing the AUR.
It is a place were *users* of Arch Linux can place their own,
*unofficial* PKGBUILDs for other users to use if they like.

In addition, the Arch Linux project does not distribute software built
off of the PKGBUILDs placed on the AUR. Users who wish to use the
PKGBUILDs that were uploaded by other users must download the PKGBUILD
and then build the package themselves on their own local machine. So
the AUR, as you can see, is really basically just a community bulletin
board for PKGBUILDs - it's not a software repository, and not an
"official" part of the Arch Linux distribution.

(See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/New_AUR_user_guidelines for
more info.)

So in short, neither the Arch Linux developers or TU's are responsible
for the PKGBUILDs you are referring to. If you had a problem with that
PKGBUILD, you should have sent an email to the user who put it there.
If you failed to get a response, or the user refused, then you should
have emailed this TUR list - nicely - about the problem and I am sure
that the TU's here - who are very nice, accommodating people - would
have obliged you in a heartbeat.

Instead you handled this situation antagonistically, coming in here with
your flame-gun on high, lashing out at everything and everyone, and
proceeding to annoy everyone. (But perhaps that was your purpose in the
first place - to find a forum where you could start a flame war about
font issues.)

I don't know (and don't care) what you're so angry about, or why you
decided to unload it here. But I can assure you that the Arch Devs and
TU's are the wrong target for your anger. And a few nicely worded
emails would have gotten the PKGBUILD in question taken down just as
quickly - if not more so - than flames.

I'm not an Arch developer - or a TU - just a regular Arch user who lurks
on the TU list here, and contributes community support from time to
time. In addition, I've also been a regular user of the Ion WM in the
past. I've always thought it's a great product - a nice, lightweight WM
that's best in its category, which I've found useful to use in many
situations and have recommended to many people. But not any more.
There's no way I'll use or recommend software from someone with an
attitude like yours.
