[arch] Detecting and connecting to wireless hotspots?

Greetings:

I am going to be traveling later on this summer and would like to use my
laptop (Dell Latitude CPx-J GT650 / Linksys WPC11 v3 WiFi Card) that is
running Arch 0.7.2 (2.6.17-beyond / KDE 3.5.3) to connect to various
commercial and free wireless hotspots such as at the airport, hotel, and
coffee shops. What software would you recommend I install to assist
detecting and connecting to wireless hotspots? I am thinking of getting
rid of the Linksys WPC11 v3 WiFi Card for either a Cisco Aironet
AIR-CB21AG-A-K9 or a Proxim Orinoco Gold, what are your thoughts on these
cards?

Thank you... - James
