[arch] Bootsplash

I'm using kernel26 ( 2.6.16.1)
Debian had a program called splashy. It's a bootsplash that does not require a 
kernel patch (I'm not very fond of 'special' kernel patches ).
Is there something similar that will work on kernel26?
